In this interview with Professor Li Chen, it highlighted the importance to the construction of world-class universities and first-class disciplines as directed by the Central Party Committee (CPC). Under the guidance of the eighteen committee of CPC, a deepening reform, innovation-driven development as the strategic guidelines were introduced. To maintain a strong and stable creativity growth, personnel training and reserves is necessary. The role of education can not be ignored. Vice President Li Chen pointed out that, in order to create world-class universities and class disciplines, seeking answers to questions regarding to specific aspects and emphasis on education reform will help clarifying the future development in education reform. Professor Li Chen also pointed out that reforms of internal administration of higher education systems is as important as reforms of external environment. The reform also involves attracting and cultivating students of high standards, and at the same time, stimulating social development while persists in the framework of university president leader under committee secretary. Fourth Annual International Conference of Educational Innovation through Technology

The 4th International Conference of Educational Innovation through Technology (EITT), the annual conference of Society of International Chinese of Educational Technology (SICET), was held at Central China Normal University, October 17-18, 2015. Scholars from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the United States, South Korea, and Singapore presented and attended the conference.

Zongkai Yang, president of Central China Normal University addressed the opening ceremony. President Yang highlighted in his speech that the EITT conference provides a platform for discussion and sharing among international scholars; and the EITT conference will advocate global exchanges and cooperation to promote development in education technology. Dr. Yang Hao, Dean and Professor of School of Educational Information Technology presided over the opening ceremony.

EITT 2015 keynote speakers include Professor Sungho Kwon from Hanyang University, Korea; Professor Xiangen Hu, from University of Memphis, USA; Professor Gwo-Jen Hwang from Taiwan University of Science and Technology; Professor Leping Liu, from University of Nevada and Professor Li Chen from Beijing Normal University. Professor Sungho Kwon presented profound analysis on the changes in today’s international environment, learning strategy on intellectual education. Professor Hu Xiangen analyzed the potential impact of learning theory and technology in education by example. Professor Gwo-Jen Hwang shared earlier and recent development in mobile learning, existing problems in the implementation process and Dr. Hwang introduced ten mobile learning strategies. Professor Leping Liu’s keynote centered around the question “what is the purpose we use technology and what technology can do for us “. With these questions as starting point, Professor Liu explained how to integrate technology in teaching. Professor Li Chen shared recent development status of MOOCs in China and proposed the nature of MOOCs innovation lies in “Nature” “Service”.

Meanwhile, 62 concurrent sessions were organized around the following three themes: “promotion of teaching and learning with new technology “, ” innovative learning methods and learning environment “, “information society and culture”. These presentations discussed the existing problems and solutions in teaching and learning and recent research findings and applications of new technology in teaching and learning. Among these reports, Professor Zhaojia Xu’s presentation on how to make use of cloud platforms and desktop virtualization technology to build regional programs of basic education was very well received. Participants in the meeting were very interested in particular examples of the topic he presented.

EITT international conference was initiated by the International Society of Chinese education is SICET and is held every year. The first session in 2012 was held in Tsinghua University in Beijing, China and it is at its fourth year. The conference provides an exchange and discussion platform for experts and scholars in the field of educational technology. It aims at cultivating mutual cooperation and support between participants in order to promote further development of educational technology. EITT 2015 is co-hosted by the Central China Normal University, Institute of Information Technologies in Education, and the National Digital Learning Workers Process Technology Research center. EITT 2015 is an important academic event in the field of information technology. The convening of this meeting has positive impacts on promoting education reform and international communication and cooperation in education technology.
